How to prepare your phone system for an office move
Objective
Give Automated Telecom and your IT team the information needed to move phone service with minimal interruption.
Before the move
- Contact Automated Telecom as early as possible with the current address, new address, move date, and primary contact.
- Provide the number of users, desk phones, cordless phones, fax lines, and network devices moving.
- Confirm the new internet installation date, provider, service speed, modem, router, firewall, switches, and Wi-Fi coverage.
- Identify any new phone numbers, call routing, business hours, or user changes.
- Label each phone with the user and extension before disconnecting it.
- Photograph or document network connections before equipment is packed.
- Keep phone and network power supplies with their matching equipment.
- Arrange a test window before the new office opens.
Do not assume that phones will work on an untested network. New routers, firewalls, cabling, and Wi-Fi can affect phone registration and audio quality.
Verification
At the new office, confirm that every phone registers, inbound and outbound calls complete, voicemail works, and test calls have clear two-way audio.
Expected result: Users, phones, call routing, and internet connectivity are ready before normal operations begin.
